Background information.

Where are you from?

Originally from Ghana raised all over the world ( Canada and Australia) but I call Akron, OH home.
What do you do? How did this “role” come about? How and why are you best known by others?

I’m currently a homemaker and entrepreneur but I am formally trained in Education (MEd). I am most known for my shop Love Sethie and my ministry The Tribe Gathering. Being a homemaker was a choice as I quit my job to raise our children but the store and ministry were definitely God because I didn’t exactly imagine it for myself.
Did you attend college and/or have formal training in your respective field or industry? If so, please elaborate on the year you graduated and from what institution. I graduated from UTA with a degree in education and then went on to DBU for a masters in Higher Education. I’m currently not using either degree but who knows that may change ☺️. Ideally I want a job where I can use my love for pouring into young people, creativity and my degree in one occupation. Who knows what may happen in the future?
What factors of your upbringing influenced your career goals?

My father was a teacher at The University of Akron and so Education has always been apart of my life. Currently, I’m an entrepreneur and that comes from wanting to live a lifestyle with more freedom as opposed to being raised by immigrant parents who had no choice.

How long have you been in this career? What did you do previously?

Prior to being an entrepreneur, I worked for Cedar Hill ISD and Dallas CAN Academy.
What long-term goals do you have? What steps are you currently taking in this direction?

I would love to open up a storefront for Love Sethie that also has space for The Tribe Gathering and local community outreach programs. It would be a space that is multifunctional. I’m currently focusing on getting my business off the ground. Profitability is the goal!

Tell us about your social media presence. Do you use it in your line of work? Why or why not? Is it important in your day-to-day responsibilities, platform or career?

Social media is big for me. I love the immediate gratification of my followers engaging with me. I write really long posts and people actually read them!! It amazes me! Instagram, in particular, is the reason I am able to sell my products. When I
have something new I share it there first!!

Which public figures, role models and or historical figure shaped your goals as a child and in adulthood? Any that embodies your personal values?

My father for sure! He passed in 2017 but I care about people and value family just like he did. My house has now become the house people know they can come and get a good meal and stay for a night or two or three and I love that!
What does it mean to you to be a millennial? How do you share that with others in your life, those you meet and with your peers?

A millennial means we are forging into territory no other generation ever thought was possible. I have family values because I wasn’t stuck on a screen growing up but my house is also fully automated so I
think it’s about showing how it can all live side by side.
